The extreme cold warning that covered much of Alberta, has been lifted.
Environment Canada first issued the extreme cold warning on Saturday, February 2. As of today, February 15, the warning had been lifted.
There is a bit of snow in the forecast for Edmonton and the surrounding area, roughly 4 cm is estimated overnight and into tomorrow, Saturday, February 16.
The predicted high for Edmonton on Saturday is -16 C, with a windchill of -23 C by the afternoon.
Next week we will see daytime highs of -11 C and a high of -4 C on Tuesday, February 19.
The Vegreville area will see flurries tonight and into tomorrow as well, with a predicted high of -18 C for Saturday and Sunday, February 16-17.
As we head into next week, day time highs in the Vegreville area will reach -10 C.
Edmonton was close to breaking a a 21 year old weather record. In January 1998, temperatures reached or stayed below -20 C for 15 days straight.
