Students bring Disney’s Jungle Book to life on stage

Get ready for a musical adventure through the jungle.

Grade 5 and 6 students at Strathcona Christian Academy (SCA) Elementary School will perform Disney’s Jungle Book Kids, which is their own take on the original animated film.

“Musical theatre is a beautiful and creative art form, and the students are excited to share it with the school, families and community,” said music director, Adrienne Roussel, “It’s quite a feat of teamwork for 60 students to put on a show like this. They’ve all demonstrated an incredible amount of patience and self-discipline to get everything just right. Those who come won’t be disappointed.”

Spectators will follow Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera and the other jungle animals through a musical adventure filled with excitement, danger and friendship.

The crowd can expect to here the movie’s memorable songs such as The Bare Necessities and I wanna Be Like You.

“Though the story is more than a century old, it still manages to delight,” added principal, Francis Poole.“It shows us any obstacle can be overcome when you have loyal friends by your side.”

The show will take place at Sherwood Park Alliance Church on March 13 and 14th. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m.

The event is free.
