August 24 council highlights

Here is a summary of the Town of Vegreville regular council meeting, which was held on August 24.

During the meeting, administration was directed to:

• Accept the assets of the Vegreville Regional Museum as per the request made in their correspondence dated July 6, 2020.

• Reallocate funding to upgrade the Vegreville Regional Museum’s septic system for $30,000 to accommodate more events at the facility. The facility belongs to the Town of Vegreville.

• Set reserve bids for 2020 Tax Sales. Tax Sales take place when a property has been in tax arrears for more than two years. For more information on Tax Sales, please contact the Town at 780- 632-2606.

The Canadian Association of Municipal Administrator’s LongTerm Service Award was awarded to Town Manager, Cliff Craig for 25 years in a management position within municipal government.

Council also approved the OHS-5004, Drug and Alcohol Policy, as it was presented.

September 8 at 2 p.m. – Legislative Committee Meeting

September 14 at 7 p.m. – Council Meeting

Both will be held in Council Chambers located at the Town’s Administrative building. A limited number of people may attend in person, so they ask if possible, to watch the meeting online.
