Candlelight service offers peace at holiday season
The Akasu Palliative Care Society along with Park Memorial Ltd., Vegreville Ministerial Association and Palliative Care Volunteers provided an evening of hope and comfort for those experiencing a feeling of grief or loss at this coming holiday season with the annual Christmas Candlelight Service of Remembrance, which was held on December 2 at the Vegreville Social Centre.
Reverend Carolyn Woodall brought forth the Invocation and Opening Prayer which was followed by a number of songs by groups and solo musicians throughout the evening. The guest speaker for the service was Karen Patterson who is a facilitator with the Walking Through Grief Society who shared the organization’s vision, what services are offered, and her own personal story of how her world stopped and also how she found a “restart”.
The evening ended with a friendly fellowship luncheon provided by the hosting organizations and businesses.
