EIPS seeks volunteers for audit committee

Interested in volunteering with Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) in a financial capacity?

The school board is currently looking for two volunteer community members to serve on its audit committee. This committee reports to the Board of Trustees, which consists of three elected trustees and two volunteers external to EIPS.

EIPS feels this opportunity will give the two volunteers experience in the financial oversight of one of Alberta’s largest school divisions, which serves roughly 17,150 students in 43 schools. Its operating budget is roughly $204M.

Volunteers must reside in the EIPS jurisdiction, be financially literate and cannot be an EIPS employee or spouse of an employee.

Experience in leadership and advisory roles, knowledge of audit standards and governance and understanding financial statements, are all beneficial qualities.

This is a two year term volunteer position and volunteers can apply to serve an additional term, for a maximum of two terms.

Volunteers must attend at least two meetings per year during regular business hours from May to November. Their next meeting will take place on June 11.

Those interested can apply by emailing a cover letter and resume to tanya.borchers@eips.ca

The deadline is March 13.
