Free park N ride returns for Canada Day celebrations

It’s time to celebrate the country’s 152nd birthday and for Fort residents that means not having to drive.

With many cities/towns celebrating in their own way, the Fort returns this year with another big musician hitting the stage; Doc Walker.

Opening act Jesse Roper will kick the night off at 7:20 p.m. With Doc Walker performing at 8:30 p.m. in Legacy Park. The concert is free.

Of course the pancake breakfast, parade and fireworks are returning along with a ton of things to do all day long. Click here for a full list of events.

The unique part of the day is the free Park-and-Ride transit service.

“Why worry about struggling with the traffic and finding a parking spot? With the free transit running from 9 a.m. to midnight you can save yourself time, energy and frustration,” said Arthur Lewandowski, City of Fort Saskatchewan community events and tourism specialist.

Park-and-Ride sites will be at the Sportsplex, Chris’ No Frills, the new Park and Ride at the Dow Centennial Centre and at the Kin Family Spray Park on Westpark Drive. This also includes Canada Day transit stops at 29 bus stop locations within the city.

“With buses running every 15 to 20 minutes all day and evening, we’re happy to make it as convenient as possible for everyone to enjoy the celebration,” said Lewandowski. “Just remember that only the local FST buses are equipped with accessible ramps.”
