Lakeland College will host their upcoming Fire and Emergency Services Program information session at the Emergency Training Centre (ETC) on August 9th.

It will give potential first responders the chance to learn about the College’s Emergency Training Centre and the programs offered. They will take a tour, watch demos and lunch will be provided.

“We’ve got a lot to be proud of at the ETC and can’t wait to show our future students the many advantages they’ll find at Lakeland, “said Shawn McKerry, dean of the Emergency Training Centre. “Our students have access to one of Canada’s largest training facilities, instructors with real industry experience, and the hands-on learning that prepares them to make a difference on the front lines.”

The Emergency Training Centre programs include, emergency services technology, firefighter training, bachelor of applied business in emergency services and various industrial and municipal training programs. Their training grounds include a smoke tower, burn tower, dangerous goods pads and props for hands-on experience in vehicle extrication, fire investigation, industrial and technical rescue, etc.

The information session will take place at Lakeland’s Vermilion Campus, in the ETC, August 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
