Travel advisory issued for central Alberta

Some areas could get hit with up to 30 cm of snow by Sunday.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall and/or winter storm warning for most of central Alberta.

Starting today, January 31, heavy snowfall is expected to make its way across the province. Areas could get hit with 15 – 30 cm of snow by Sunday, February 3.

Poor driving conditions and low visibility on local highways is expected and it is recommended drivers consider postponing unnecessary travel.

Drivers are also asked to keep in mind that posted speed limits are the maximum intended for summer conditions, have winter or all-weather tires on your vehicle, activate headlights so your tail lights can be seen by drivers behind you, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, carry a winter emergency kit and stay back roughly 10 metres from snowplows.
