Volunteers needed for school reading program

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is seeking volunteers to help grow its wee read program, which is an early literacy program created by the Alberta Reads Network.

This is an eight week program for students in kindergarten and grade 1, that gets them excited about reading and strengthens their literacy skills.

Volunteers visit one of 22 EIPS schools partaking in the program once a week for 30 minutes. They can read books out-loud, play vocabulary games and talk to students about what inspired them throughout their childhood.
